Hi guys! I’m Stacy, a Sacramento State School of Nursing graduate (BSN) and new Registered Nurse! Previously, I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from UC Davis. I’ve had a vision for a space where I could share health-related content with like-minded individuals for awhile now, so I’m incredibly excited to be getting Snuggles And Scrubs up and running!
My inspiration comes from my new nursing degree and my passion for promoting human health in both an acute and community setting, but also from my love for animals (Get it, Snuggles And Scrubs?! :)). Like many little kids, I had thoughts of becoming a veterinarian and working to promote the health of animals professionally, but ultimately decided my heart for animals would be better utilized in a different setting. I imagined that setting to be my own home, where the pets I chose to bring into my life would become more than just patients; truly family!
I grew up with 3 dogs, and over the years, several mice, a rat, bunnies, snakes caught from my yard, tarantulas babysat from elementary school, and horses belonging to extended family that I desperately wished were my own. I’ve always been well-versed in pet ownership and animals occupy a large portion of my heart. And still, little did I know exactly what the Universe had in store for me when I made this decison! The spring and summer before I began nursing school, I found myself, the owner of just 1 rescue cat over the previous decade, now owned by an additional 5 bundles of furry feline joy! Their story is fodder for a post at a later time, but they rocked my world, to say the least! I mean that in the very best way possible, of course!
Fast forward 2.5 years, and I’m so excited to start what I think will be an amazing career in healing, teaching, and promoting the health of people in the hospital as well as the community as a nurse, and a unique opportunity as a pet owner to help others learn along with me how to improve the health of their pets, too! I love doing health research, and hope to post relevant, important, and interesting health content related to food, nutrition, fitness, nursing practice, health conditions, lifestyle, DIY projects, and more for both you and your pet! Thank you for reading, I’m so happy to be here with you!
Be Well,
Stacy Klejwa, BSN
