When thinking about how to be healthy, a lot of times we don’t pay attention to the snacks we’re eating as much as our meals. But, treats and snacks should ideally be healthy and nutritious, too, right?! The same goes for your cats! Since my 5 fur babies eat grain free food, and I really try to pay attention to the extra ingredients in their food, I really don’t want to be inadvertently feeding them a bunch of things that aren’t healthy for them when giving them treats. I’ve done some searching for the cleanest treats out there that also have some additional health benefits for specific health conditions, and so far, I like these 3 cat treat options!

Meet My Snuggles Cat Crew! & Happy Valentine’s Day!
Hi guys! Happy Valentine’s Day! Since this blog will revolve heavily around my fur babies (the Snuggles half), their life, their health, and my exploration of pet health in general, I thought it only fitting I introduce you to my 5 kitties: Everest, DaVinci, Aria, Kelvin, and Shasta! They’re all almost 3 years old now, so while they’re technically more cats than kittens, you’ll often hear me (read me?) refer to them as my kittens! I can’t help it, no matter how old they get, they will always be my babies! I know I’m not the only one, and also probably not the only one who just freaking loves and wants to share cute photos of their fur babies! 🙂

Guacamole & Sweet Potato Fries Recipes for the Super Bowl
In my opinion, the best thing about the Super Bowl is watching the commercials and yummy snacks! Anyone else? There’s plenty of room on the snack table for fun, packaged treats (I’m looking at you, hot Cheetos!), along with a few other fresh, homemade options! Can’t go wrong with some healthy fats and phytonutrients from the avocado in this guacamole, and beta-carotene, Vitamin C, and a whole slew of other vitamins and minerals from sweet potatoes in this sweet potato fry recipe!

My Article in the Nursing School Newspaper: An End and a New Beginning
I can still hardly believe it since the experience flew by so quickly, but I’m excited to announce that I graduated from nursing school with my BSN in December of 2017! Wahoo! I will have plenty more to say about my nursing school experience at CSU Sacramento in future posts, but for now, I’ll let this article speak for itself. Entitled, “An End and a New Beginning,” I wanted this article to be a tribute to my experience in nursing school, and even moreso, a statement of my excitement about how proud I am of what we future RNs have accomplished, and what we are capable of!

My Article in the Nursing School Newspaper: Natural Ways to Boost Your Immune System
Hi all! In December of last year, 2017, my last month of nursing school, I wrote this research article, “Natural Ways to Boost Your Immune System,” in the nursing school newspaper. We are definitely in the heart of cold and flu season now! I hear from my nurse friends that the ER has been exceptionally busy lately, full of patients who are suffering from the horrible symptoms of a cold or particularly nasty flu.

My Article in the Nursing School Newspaper: Qualities of the Best ER Nurses
During my 4th semester of nursing school, I was given the opportunity to complete my preceptorship in the Emergency Department. This experience proved to be one of the most enlightening and educational of my life, largely due to the amazing nurses and other hospital staff I was privileged to meet and work with! In November 2017, just one month before graduation and HOURS into my preceptorship, I was inspired to write this article for my nursing school newspaper!
